SAN DIEGO HEALTH AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS TO HOST PRESS CONFERENCE CELEBRATING LOCAL IMPACT OF THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT : Health Center Partners, Legal Aid Society of San Diego, San Diegans for Healthcare Coverage and Family Health Centers of San Diego to Share the Social and Economic Benefits of the ACA on the Anniversary of Its Signing

WHAT: As part of a statewide initiative to celebrate the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on the anniversary of its signing seven years ago, local community and healthcare organizations from across San Diego County will host a press conference to discuss how the ACA has positively impacted Californians and the local community in particular. Speakers will present data demonstrating how specific components of the ACA—including Medicaid Expansion and Covered California—have supported community health centers and in turn improved access to quality health care for the most vulnerable and underserved individuals in the state. In addition to health benefits speakers will share new data surrounding the economic impact of community health centers in California, which includes $1.2 billion in savings to the Medi-Cal program, the creation of over 9,000 jobs and $1.17 million in employment and economic impact of current operations. Health Center Partners of Southern California will host the event in partnership with the Legal Aid Society of San Diego, San Diegans for Healthcare Coverage and Family Health Centers of San Diego.
