Congress provided a short-term extension of health center funding through November 21. This solution, while avoiding a direct funding lapse, is far less than is necessary to resolve the uncertainty facing health centers. That’s why we need you to take action today and keep the pressure on your Members of Congress!
Thank them for providing short-term funding. Ask them to take action immediately to extend mandatory federal funding for health centers before the November 21 deadline. Health centers need as much funding as possible to provide room for growth and long-term stability.
For decades, Congress has made an annual bipartisan investment in Section 330 federal grant funding to provide the foundation for the health center model of care. This investment is critical to the success of health centers as they meet growing demand and respond to the changing health care needs of their communities.
Federal grant funding for the Health Center program currently comes from two sources:
- $1.63b in annual discretionary appropriations
- $4.0b in the Community Health Centers Fund
